Kalutara කළුතර

The bridge in Kalutara is an iconic landmark. It was 450ft long and is separated by a ridge in the middle of the river Kalu. Ceylonese records say that it was opened for road traffic in August 1877 along with a single line of rails in the middle. Currently, There are twin bridges for railway and one for the road traffic. This is a perfect place to watch the sunset and on a clear morning, there is a good chance to get a glimpse of Adam's Peak mountain from this location

Kalutara which is an area well known for Mangosteens, a fruit introduced from Malaysia to Ceylon, is 43 Km (approx) from Colombo (zone number 01) Fort city centre where the Old Parliament is located. Also known as Kalutota (කළුතොට) is a major city in the Kalutara District, Western Province of Sri Lanka.
